参考范文:
Name:hinese whispers
How to play:
As many players as possible line up so that they can whisper totheir immediate neighbors but not hear any players farther away. The player atthe beginning of the line thinks of a phrase, and whispers it as quietly aspossible to his neighbor. The neighbor then passes on the message to the nextplayer to the best of his ability. The passing continues in this fashion untilit reaches the player at the end of the line, who calls out the message he orshe received.
If the game has been 'successful', the final message will bearlittle or no resemblance to the original, because of the cumulative effect ofmistakes along the line. Deliberately changing the phrase is often consideredcheating, but if the starting phrase is poorly chosen, there may bedisappointingly little natural change.
Purpose:
The game has no winner: the entertainment comes from comparing theoriginal and final messages. Intermediate messages may also be compared; somemessages will be unrecognizable after only a few steps. As well as providingamusement, the game can have educational value. It shows how easily informationcan become corrupted by indirect communication. The game has been used inschools to simulate the spread of gossip and supposed harmful effects. It canalso be used to teach young children to moderate the volume of their voice, andhow to listen attentively; in this case, a game is a success if the message istransmitted accurately with each child \"whispering\" rather than\"shouting\". It can also be used for older or adult learners of aforeign language, where the challenge of speaking comprehensibly, andunderstanding, is more difficult because of the low volume, and hence a greatermastery of the fine points of pronunciation is required.
